Manipur Students’ Protest at Ima Market Intensifies Amidst Deadline to Governor

Northeast Desk, 10th September: Students protesting at Manipur’s Ima Market since September 9 have given Governor Lakshman Acharya a 24-hour deadline to address their demands, which ends at 1 PM today. The protesters, initially stationed in front of Raj Bhawan, were dispersed by security forces following stone-pelting incidents.

The demonstrators have since relocated to Ima Market, where they continued their protest overnight. The students have warned of escalating their agitation if their demands are not met by the deadline.

In response to the growing unrest, both state and central forces have been deployed around the market, implementing strict security measures. Police have requested protesters to vacate the area, but they have refused to comply.

Further updates will follow as the situation develops.
