Manipur: Temporary Suspension of Economic Blockade in Kuki-Zo Areas

Northeast Desk, 27th November: The Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU) announced a temporary suspension of the economic blockade in selected areas of Kuki-Zo on November 27, citing hardships faced by the people.

The suspension comes with a caveat that the committee will review the current situation and may reimpose the blockade if necessary.

“In accordance with the necessity that may arise out of the current dynamics, it will review the current suspension and enforce if required. The Committee also appreciate the support given by the public during the entire course of the blockade”, stated the press note.

The Committee on Tribal Unity had initiated the ‘Indefinite Economic Blockade’ in Manipur on November 21, vehemently condemning the alleged indifferent attitude of the concerned authority in maintaining law and order in Kuki-Zo inhabited areas.
