Manipur: Tensions Escalate near Sugnu village in Kakching district as Armed Miscreants Launch Attacks, no casualties reported

Northeast Desk, 17th February: In the past 24 hours, Manipur has witnessed escalating tensions with intermittent firing and bombarding reported in peripheral areas of the state.

Armed miscreants initiated attacks in Sugnu under Kakching district starting from midnight on February 13, employing sophisticated weaponry.

The attackers have intermittently bombarded and fired near the peripheral areas, resulting in damage to properties. One house was damaged, and several properties were affected when a bomb exploded in a residential area. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries from the explosion, which occurred inside the house of a resident at Moirangningthou of Sugnu around 11 pm on February 15.

In response to the attacks, a team of police led by Kakching SP and additional SP swiftly responded, rushing to the site of the explosion to assess the situation.

The attacks prompted security forces to retaliate against the assailants, leading to regular gunfights between armed militants and security personnel. While the situation in the area remains tense, authorities assert that it is under control.
