Manipur: Two Suspects Arrested in Imphal Assault Case; Security Measures Tightened Across state

Imphal: Two individuals, identified as Mutum Mangal Meitei (29) and Pukhrambam Nongpoknganba (26), were apprehended in connection with an assault case reported on December 22.

The incident occurred near Sangai Continental Gali in Thangal Bazaar, Imphal West, where four individuals, including two women, were allegedly attacked by unidentified youths.

The suspects, both residents of Uripok Khaidem Leikai, were arrested on December 25, as confirmed by police officials.

In response to rising tensions, security forces have intensified operations to maintain law and order across Manipur. Area domination exercises and search operations are being conducted in vulnerable districts.

The uninterrupted movement of essential goods has been ensured along National Highways 37 and 2, with over 400 vehicles successfully reaching their destinations under heavy security.

To further enhance safety, 108 checkpoints have been set up across hill and valley regions of the state. Security forces are actively deploying convoys along critical routes to safeguard the transportation of goods. Police reported no violations during this period, as stringent measures remain in place to restore peace in the region.
