Manipur: Union Home Minister Amit Shah Hold Talks With Civil Society Organizations

National Desk, 30 May: Union Home Minister Amit Shah met with representatives of various civil society organisations on Tuesday on his four-day visit to the violent state Manipur.

Civil Society Organisations reaffirmed their dedication to maintainin the peace and pledged that they would work together to help the state return to normalcy.

Home minister also had a meeting with a group of female state officials led by Meira Paibi. The women leaders reaffirmed their commitment to upholding the state’s peace and prosperity.

Amit Shah met with Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey during his visit to the violent state of Manipur on Monday.

In order to analyse the current situation and determine the best course of action, he also presided over a meeting with the state chief minister and other ministers, senior leaders and officials.

Home Minister is expected to hold numerous rounds of negotiations throughout his visit to the state till June 1.

Notably, new violence was reported in several areas of the northeastern state before to Amit Shah’s visit after claimed terrorists allegedly set a number of homes on fire in the Serou and Sugnu area in the Toubal and Kakching districts on Sunday while carrying sophisticated weapons. Manipur Police commandos responded to the tragedy by killing 40 militants thus far. The state government acted immediately and forcefully to thwart these attempts to destabilize Manipur with the aid of the army and other security agencies.
