Manipur Violence: CRPF Assigned Security Role for Investigating CBI Team
Northeast Desk , 28th September: The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has been tasked with providing security to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) teams during their visit to the unrest-affected state of Manipur. This decision comes as part of measures to ensure the safety of CBI personnel while they conduct investigations and gather evidence in the region.
A senior official stated, “Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has been given charge of security of CBI teams visiting various locations in Manipur for investigation purposes and collection of evidence.”
A team from the CBI, led by Special Director Ajay Bhatnagar, arrived in Imphal on Wednesday with the mission to investigate the alleged kidnapping and killing of two students who went missing earlier.
In cases that are either registered or transferred to the CBI, investigative teams are required to visit crime scenes, reconstruct events, gather forensic evidence, and subsequently forward it to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory.
The primary goal of assigning CRPF personnel to accompany the CBI during their visits to violence-affected areas is to ensure a swift and secure investigation process. The CBI is currently handling 11 FIRs, including those related to the viral video depicting the mistreatment of two young tribal women.
The investigation into these cases is ongoing, with authorities committed to uncovering the truth and ensuring justice is served.
