Manipur Woman Arrested with Heroin Worth Rs 5 Crore in Assam’s Cachar

Guwahati, 10th February: In a significant drug bust, a woman from Manipur was apprehended with heroin valued at Rs 5 crore in Assam’s Cachar district.

Acting on a tip-off, the police launched a search operation targeting vehicles arriving from neighboring Manipur in the Lakhipur area.

Their efforts culminated in the seizure of 700 grams of heroin concealed within 50 soap cases, discreetly stashed inside a bag, during a routine vehicle inspection on Thursday night.

The woman, identified as 35-year-old Nengcha Hmar and hailing from Jiribam in Manipur, was promptly arrested from the vehicle.

Authorities swiftly registered a case under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, underscoring the gravity of the offense.

This arrest underscores the continued efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat drug trafficking and uphold public safety in the region.
