Manipur Woman Held with 104 Grams of Suspected Heroin in Jagiroad Pre-Dawn Operation
Imphal: In a significant anti-narcotics operation, Jagiroad Police on Monday detained a 25-year-old woman from Manipur after seizing over 100 grams of suspected heroin from her possession. The early morning naka checking drive, carried out near Jagiroad Railway Station around 4:30 am, was led by Woman Sub-Inspector Tarali Bora.
The accused has been identified as Sophia, daughter of Rasid Ali and a resident of Hata, Nongpok Ingkhol under Porompat Police Station in Imphal, Manipur. According to police sources, she was apprehended while attempting to transport narcotics using a concealment method involving nine plastic soap cases tightly strapped around her body.
Upon inspection, the packages were found to contain approximately 104.58 grams of a substance believed to be heroin. Police suspect the contraband may have been part of a larger trafficking operation with links stretching across state lines.
An investigation is currently underway to determine the origin of the drugs, potential accomplices, and the intended destination of the consignment. Authorities have not ruled out the involvement of an inter-state drug trafficking network, and further interrogations are expected to yield crucial leads.
The Jagiroad Police operation marks yet another instance of vigilant law enforcement cracking down on the trafficking of narcotics through Assam, a state increasingly being used as a transit point for drug movement from the Northeast.
