Manipur’s Security Sweep Nets Two KCP Operatives
Imphal: In a significant push against insurgency, Manipur’s security forces have ratcheted up their intelligence-driven operations, leading to the capture of two active members of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) in separate, swift actions. These intensified combing and cordon-and-search missions underscore the state’s unwavering resolve to restore peace and order.
On June 23, acting on precise intelligence, security personnel zeroed in on Sadokpam Manoj Meitei, 23, an active KCP operative, at his Sagolband Moirang Hanuba residence, nestled within the Lamphel Police Station limits of Imphal West. The operation, executed with precision, resulted in the recovery of a mobile phone and two SIM cards from his possession.
Just a day prior, on June 22, another KCP cadre, Nongthombam Roshanta Singh, 45, was apprehended. Singh, originally from Huikap Makha Leikai under Andro Police Station, was taken into custody from his current abode at Kiyam Siphai Khong Ahanbi in Thoubal District, an operation conducted under the Thoubal Police Station’s jurisdiction. Authorities recovered two mobile phones, two SIM cards, and a wallet from him.
Officials have affirmed that these operations are integral to a wider offensive aimed at dismantling the deep-rooted extortion network plaguing the region, thereby bolstering peace and security. Both individuals are currently undergoing rigorous interrogation, with investigations actively ongoing to unearth their network and ascertain their involvement in other extortion cases.
