Mann Ki Baat: PM shares ‘great news’ about conservation of Rhinos in Assam

Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi in this week’s episode of his weekly radio show ‘Mann Ki Baat’ praised the Assam government and people for the decrease in rhino poaching cases since 2014.

The Prime Minister praised the Assamese people for leading the way in terms of animal protection through joint efforts.

Rhino poaching was recorded in 37 incidences in Assam in 2013. This dropped to just two cases in 2021 and only one case has been reported so far in 2022.

While praising the Assamese people, Prime Minister Narendra Modi played Maestro Dr. Bhupen Hazarika’s Kaziranga Song, which he claims is a constant source of inspiration for the people of Assam.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma following this tweet, “My heartfelt gratitude to Adarniya PM Shri Narendra Modiji for acknowledging the efforts of our Govt & people in conserving the world-famous one-horned rhino of Assam.”

Chief of anti-Poaching Task Force, Assam Police Special DGP GP Singh tweeted, “It’s a moment of pride for Assam Police and Assam Forest Department that Hon Prime Minister has recognised our joint effort. We would eliminate the scourge of rhino poaching from Assam completely. As Chief of Anti-poaching Taskforce, I compliment each man/woman for the stupendous effort.”
