The renaming marks the first phase of the state government’s broader plan to establish 39 Co-District Commissioner Offices across Assam, aimed at enhancing governance and administrative efficiency.

The renaming ceremony was led by Bimal Bora, Assam’s Minister for Industries, Commerce, Public Enterprises, and Cultural Affairs, who also serves as the Tinsukia District Guardian Minister.
