Marijuana Weighing 3,243kg Seized at Assam-Tripura Border, 1 Arrested

Guwahati: Police conducted separate operations for three days and seized a huge quantity of marijuana at the Churaibari outpost on the Assam-Tripura border.

On the third day of the operation, 3,243kg of marijuana was recovered.

On Monday night, more than three tonnes of marijuana was seized within 24 hours.

The police at the Assam-Tripura Border stopped and searched a truck with the licence plate NL01 Q 5050 as it travelled from Agartala to Guwahati.

During the search, the police arrested the driver and found 3 tonnes, 243 kilogrammes of marijuana with a black market worth of Rs. 3,30,000,000.

According to the driver, Manik Singh who was speaking to the police said the marijuana was being carried from Gulbazar in Agartala and was travelling to Guwahati.

The driver is currently the target of a police investigation under the NDPS Act, and they will appear before the Karimganj District Court on Wednesday.

However, the authorities are still looking for individuals involve in the incident.
