Massive Army Deployment in Manipur to Trace Missing Meitei Man

Imphal: A massive search operation, involving over 2,000 Indian Army personnel, is underway in Manipur to locate Laishram Kamalbabu Singh, a Meitei man who has been missing since November 25th.

Singh, a resident of Khukrul in Imphal West, was employed as a works supervisor with the Military Engineering Services (MES) in Leimakhong Military Station. The Army confirmed that he went missing from the military station, prompting concerns and a subsequent large-scale search effort.

Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh expressed deep concern over the situation, stating, “Every effort is being made to locate him.” He added that the Army and police are working tirelessly, employing helicopters, drones, and tracker dogs to cover extensive areas.

The search operation has been intensified in the challenging terrain surrounding the military camp, which is located in Kangpokpi district. The area, predominantly inhabited by the Kuki community, has been a hotspot of ethnic violence since May 2023.

As the search continues, hopes remain high that Kamalbabu Singh will be found safe. The incident has further highlighted the ongoing tensions and security challenges in the region.
