Massive Consignment Of Meth Tablets Seized In Mizoram

Guwahati: In a massive operation, a huge amount of illicit drugs worth over Rs 6 crores has been seized by security forces in Mizoram.

Four persons including a woman have been arrested in connection to it.

Based on specific input, troopers of Assam Rifles and the Excise department in a joint operation intercepted two vehicles at Tuikhurhlu area.

Upon searching, as many as 20,000 methamphetamine tablets were seized from two vehicles.

The seized drugs are worth over Rs 6,66,60,000 in the international market.

The two vehicles used for smuggling bearing registration ‘MZ 05A 8395’ and ‘MZ 02T 5265’ were also seized. 

It needs to be noted that the identities of the arrestees have not been ascertained yet. 

An investigation to unearth further linkages is on.

Ongoing smuggling of Methamphetamine tablets is a major cause of concern for the state of Mizoram, especially along the India-Myanmar Border. Assam Rifles, rightly christened as the ‘Sentinels of Northeast’ have continued their efforts against the smuggling activities in Mizoram.
