Massive Crackdown Nabs Eight Militants Across Manipur

Imphal – In a significant boost to peace and order, security forces have apprehended eight militants from various banned outfits across three districts of Manipur, police confirmed on Saturday. The arrests, spanning Imphal West, Kakching, and Imphal East, underscore the ongoing commitment to rooting out insurgency in the state.

Among those apprehended, an active cadre of the proscribed People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK – VC-Red Army) was nabbed from Maharabi in Imphal West district on Friday, demonstrating the intelligence-led operations by security personnel. Simultaneously, two members of the Socialist Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (SOREPA) were taken into custody from the Umathel area of Kakching district.

Further successes saw the arrest of three active cadres belonging to the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP – PWG) from different locations within Imphal West district on Thursday. In addition, two members of the KCP (Taibanganba) faction were apprehended on Friday – one from Phumlou Mamang Leikai in Imphal West and the other from Keibi Khullen village in Imphal East district, a police officer elaborated. These combined operations highlight the coordinated efforts of security agencies in dismantling the networks of these outlawed groups.
