Massive Drug Bust in Mizoram Nets Crores, Myanmar National Apprehended
Aizawl: Lawngtlai, Mizoram witnessed a significant crackdown on narcotics trafficking as a joint operation by the Assam Rifles and Bualpui police resulted in the seizure of a substantial quantity of Methamphetamine tablets.
The operation, executed on April 12th following precise intelligence inputs, unfolded in the Siachangkawn general area of Lawngtlai district.
The meticulously planned operation culminated in the recovery of approximately 17.946 kilograms of Methamphetamine, translating to an estimated 1,80,000 tablets of the highly addictive substance. The illicit consignment carries an approximate value of a staggering Rs 54 crore in the international drug market, underscoring the magnitude of this seizure and the pervasive nature of the illegal drug trade in the area.
During the operation, law enforcement officials apprehended one individual, who has been identified as a national of neighboring Myanmar. This arrest signifies a crucial breakthrough in understanding and potentially disrupting the cross-border drug trafficking routes that plague the region.
Following the successful interception, the arrested suspect, along with the confiscated narcotics, has been officially handed over to the Bualpui Police Outpost. Authorities have confirmed that further legal procedures are now underway to investigate the network involved and bring all perpetrators to justice. Security agencies have reiterated their unwavering commitment to intensifying efforts aimed at dismantling the intricate web of drug trafficking organizations operating within the region.
