Hnahthial, Mizoram: In a significant joint operation, Mizoram Police and Assam Rifles have made a major breakthrough in the fight against insurgency and illegal arms trade.
On Wednesday, security forces seized a massive cache of explosives, including 775 kilograms of high-grade explosives and 4700 detonators.
The operation, conducted in the Hnahthial district, led to the arrest of two individuals suspected of being involved in the transportation and distribution of the explosives. The seizure of such a large quantity of explosives is a significant blow to insurgent groups operating in the region.
The security forces acted on specific intelligence inputs indicating the movement of explosives and other illicit materials in the Thingsai area. A joint team was swiftly deployed to establish a mobile vehicle check post. During a thorough search of a vehicle, the explosives and detonators were recovered.
The apprehended individuals and the seized materials have been handed over to the local police for further investigation.
