Massive fire breaks out at private hospital in MP’s Jabalpur; 8 dead

Guwahati: At least eight deaths have been recorded following a massive fire that started on Monday at a private hospital in Madhya Pradesh.

The incident reportedly occurred in Jabalpur of Madhya Pradesh.

The hospital facility was emitting massive plumes of smoke which could be seen in images taken nearby.

The fire broke out at New Life Multi-Specialty Hospital near Damoh Naka area of Jabalpur today afternoon.

According to the police, the medical personnel and up to five patients may have perished in the fire so far. Additionally, the incident has injured over a dozen people.

According to Akhilesh Gaur, chief superintendent of police in Jabalpur, “It was a massive fire, and our teams managed to rescue every person trapped inside the hospital.”

According to the police officer, firefighters responded quickly and were able to put out the fires.

Police added that it appears that an electrical short circuit was what started the fire.

The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan offered a compensation of Rs 5 lakhs each for the families of those who were killed in the terrible occurrence.
