Guwahati: A massive fire started in Mao Market in the capital of Nagaland in Kohima around 4 pm on February 27. The fire is thought to have been started by a short circuit.

Fear spread among store owners and customers when the Mao market, one of Kohima’s largest markets and one that is close to the Bethel hospital, was consumed by flames. At least 4 fire fighters were dispatched right away to put out the fires. Firefighters are working nonstop to put out the fire.

It has been learned that Rupin Sharma, the DGP for Nagaland, has also arrived at the scene to assess the situation. He is keeping an eye on the rescue effort in coordination with the regional authorities.

According to eyewitnesses, the fire started in one of the market’s businesses and swiftly spread to other stores because of the strong winds. The fire department received the call around 4 pm.

No casualties have been reported to date, however it is still unknown how much damage the fire has caused. The shop owners, who have been operating their companies in the market for years, have suffered significant losses as a result of the occurrence.
