Massive Fire Destroys 10 Homes in Nagaland’s Chümoukedima District

Chümoukedima – A devastating fire swept through Unity Village in Nagaland’s Chümoukedima district on Monday morning, completely destroying 10 houses and partially damaging three others. The fire broke out around 10 a.m., causing significant property damage, though fortunately, no casualties were reported.

Firefighters from the Chümoukedima Fire Station, under the leadership of Sub-Inspector Noklangsangba Mollier, swiftly responded to the emergency. Three fire tenders from Chümoukedima and two additional tenders from the Central Fire Station were dispatched to the scene. Thanks to their prompt efforts, the blaze was brought under control within 45 minutes, preventing further destruction to nearby homes.

Sub-Inspector Mollier commended the fire department’s quick response, stating, “The situation could have been worse, but our team was able to contain the fire quickly, minimizing the spread to neighboring homes.”

While the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, the rapid action of the fire brigade helped avoid potential loss of life and greater devastation in the area. Authorities are assessing the full extent of the damages and assisting affected residents.
