Massive Fire Engulfs Picnic Bus in Tripura, Six Injured; CM Manik Saha Expresses Concern
Agartala: A devastating fire broke out on a picnic bus in Tripura’s Sidhai Mohanpur Jagatpur Chowmuhani area on January 5, leaving six individuals injured, two of whom are in critical condition.
The incident occurred when the bus, part of a three-bus convoy returning from a picnic at Baas Gram, caught fire following a generator explosion.
Chief Minister Manik Saha expressed deep concern over the tragic incident and extended his prayers for the swift recovery of the injured. “Deeply concerned about the unfortunate incident in Mohanpur, where a picnic bus caught fire following a generator blast. Praying for the speedy recovery of the individuals injured in this tragic event,” he wrote on his official X handle. CM Saha confirmed that the injured individuals have been referred to GB Pant Hospital for advanced medical care, and the state government is closely monitoring the situation to ensure prompt treatment.
The explosion reportedly caused severe injuries to two students who remain in critical condition. The Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural), Chiranjeeb Chakraborty, provided details, explaining that the buses were CNG-powered, and the fire erupted in one of them while the group was en route to Champaknagar in West Tripura district.
The Chief Minister also urged the public to exercise caution during picnics, emphasizing the importance of safety measures in such recreational outings.
Authorities are investigating the incident to determine the exact cause of the explosion and fire. Meanwhile, the state government continues to provide support to the injured and their families during this challenging time.
