Massive Fire Guts 15 Shops in Shila Bazaar, Barpeta

A devastating fire swept through Shila Bazaar in Barpeta during the early hours of November 26, destroying 15 shops and causing significant financial losses estimated in several lakh rupees. The blaze, which reportedly started around 1 AM, is believed to have been triggered by a short circuit, according to local residents.

The fire spread rapidly through the marketplace, engulfing shops and leaving little time for owners to salvage their goods. Witnesses described scenes of chaos as flames consumed the area, with residents scrambling to protect nearby structures.

Emergency services arrived at the scene nearly two hours after the fire broke out. Teams from Tarabari Police Station and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) worked tirelessly to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading further.

Despite their efforts, the fire caused widespread destruction, leaving shop owners and the local community devastated. Authorities are conducting an investigation to confirm the cause of the fire and assess the full extent of the damage.
