Northeast Desk, 7th April: A devastating fire engulfed property owned by the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department in Shillong’s Lumshyiap-Chandmari locality on Saturday evening, leaving a trail of destruction and causing widespread breathing problems among local residents.
Witnesses described a thick blanket of black flames enveloping the area as the fire ravaged through the property. Prompt response from local police and multiple fire tenders helped initiate efforts to extinguish the flames swiftly.
The Fire and Emergency Services played a crucial role in containing the fire, while precautionary measures such as cutting off power supply were implemented by the local authorities to mitigate further damage.
