Guwahati: In a major haul, a massive consignment of illicit heroin was seized from Kolasib district of Mizoram on Sunday night.
This was informed by Mizoram Police.
During a routine check, a team of Vairengte PS in Mizoram detained one truck carrying gas cylinders at Vairengte town.
Upon checking, 625 grams (50 soap cases) of heroin was recovered which was hidden in an empty gas cylinder.
It is learned that the drugs were coming from Ngopa, Champhai and was heading towards Silchar.
The estimated cost of the seized heroin is said to be Rs 3.4 crore in the international market.
Moreover, the driver of the truck was arrested in connection to the seizure.
It needs to be mentioned that a case under the NDPS Act was registered at Vairengte police station for further legal proceedings.
