Lakhimpur, Assam – The Indian Armed Forces have initiated extensive military exercises at the Dollungmukh Firing Range, nestled within the Dulung Reserve Forest of Lakhimpur district, Assam, close to the Arunachal Pradesh border.
These significant training operations commenced today, May 20th, and are slated to continue until August 31st. The exercises involve live bomb detonations, rocket launches, and dynamic aerial firepower demonstrations.
In light of these military activities, the Lakhimpur district administration, working in tandem with the Forest Department, has enforced a stringent prohibition on civilian entry into the designated training area for the entire duration of the exercises.
Local inhabitants have been strongly advised by authorities to exercise utmost caution, steer clear of the restricted zone, and maintain vigilance to prevent any potential risk to life and property.
While the Dollungmukh Firing Range has been historically utilized by the Indian Air Force for aerial maneuvers originating from the Tezpur Air Base, these current drills represent the first instance of comprehensive, full-spectrum rocket and aerial bombardment exercises in the area. This expansion of military activity underscores a reinforced security stance along the strategically vital northeastern frontier.
These ongoing military drills are being observed against a backdrop of shifting geopolitical landscapes, notably the increasing defense collaboration between China and Pakistan. Sources suggest that the Union Ministry of Home Affairs is concurrently enhancing internal surveillance measures and bolstering border vigilance to proactively address emerging national security concerns.
