Massive Rail Blockade Disrupts Train Services in North East Frontier Railway
Alipurduar: The Greater Cooch Behar People’s Association (GCPA) has disrupted train services in the North East Frontier Railway (NFR) by staging a massive rail blockade at Jorai Railway Station. The protest, which began around 6:45 AM, has led to significant disruptions, affecting thousands of passengers.
As of 8:00 AM, over 5,000 protesters have gathered at the station, completely blocking all railway lines. To prevent any untoward incidents, the NFR, in coordination with state authorities, has deployed over 500 security personnel from the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Government Railway Police (GRP), and local police.
Due to the blockade, several trains have been canceled, and many others have been diverted via the alternate route of Fakiragram-Golakganj-New Coochbehar. To accommodate affected passengers, the NFR has arranged buses and Tata Sumo vehicles.
The NFR has expressed deep regret for the inconvenience caused to passengers by the protest.
