MCD Poll Results: AAP Leading, BJP Trailing

Guwahati: The counting of votes has begun for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. The ruling BJP hopes to continue its 15-year rule over the civic body of the national capital while the Aam Aadmi Party seeks to establish its own “double-engine” administration.

However, it all comes down to December 7, when the results of the election will be made public. This was a high-decibel struggle that was conducted in the election campaign before to the voting on December 4. Both the BJP and the AAP made claims and denials of winning the elections.

After early rounds of counting revealed a close race between the Arvind Kejriwal-led party and the BJP, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has begun to increase its lead in the Delhi civic elections.

According to reports, the AAP was in the lead in 135 of the 250 wards as of 11:30 a.m.

With the counting going on, the trends seem to be on a see-saw as in the results for 89 seats.

The most recent results show that AAP won 45 seats, BJP won 39, Congress won 4 and one vote went to an independent.

The premises of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) office in New Delhi are all decked up with balloons and flowers as the latest counting trends showed the party’s lead in the 2022 Municipal Corporation Delhi (MCD) polls.

The AAP is surging ahead with 89 seats, BJP bagged 69, at the time of filing this report. Exit polls gave CM Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP a clear win in the elections.

Punjab CM and AAP leader Bhagwant Mann reached Delhi CM #ArvindKejriwal’s residence on Wednesday, December 7. While talking to the media, Mann said, “Arvind Kejriwal uprooted 15-year-long Congress rule in Delhi and now the 15-year-long (BJP) rule in MCD. It shows people of Delhi don’t like politics of hatred, they vote for schools, hospitals, electricity, cleanliness and infrastructure.”

The BJP now controls the Delhi MCD but the AAP has already begun to celebrate because they are in the lead on several seats.

The BJP had at least three periods of government in the MCD while not in power in Delhi.
