MCD Polls: Voting for 250 Wards & 1,349 Candidates in Fray

Guwahati: Voting for the first Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections began amidst high security in a total of 250 wards on Sunday morning.

Voting started at 8 am and will end at 5:30 pm.

The high-stakes civic elections, which are primarily considered as a three-way struggle between the BJP, the AAP, and the Congress, will feature around 1.45 crore eligible voters and 1,349 candidates.

The votes will be tallied on December 7.

Data from the State Election Commission shows that there are 1,45,05,358 registered voters in Delhi overall, including 1,061 transgender voters and 78,93,418 male and 66,10,879 female voters.

13,638 voting places across Delhi have almost a million workers on duty. 68 Model Polling Stations and 68 Pink Polling Stations have also been built for the sake of the voters’ quality experience.

The necessary preparations have been made for the deployment of the military.

The Commission claimed to have put in place complex plans for a “safe, secure, and enjoyable” voting experience. These steps are necessary to maintain electoral integrity and guarantee that all political parties and candidates have an equal opportunity to compete.
