
Meghalaya: Air Marshal Inderpal Singh Walia Appointed Senior Air Staff Officer at Eastern Air Command
Northeast Desk, 10th September: Air Marshal Inderpal Singh Walia has officially assumed the role of Senior Air Staff Officer at the Eastern Air Command (EAC) of the Indian Air Force (IAF), marking a significant advancement in his distinguished career. This appointment positions Air Marshal Walia at the helm of the IAF’s strategic and operational efforts in Shillong.
Commissioned into the IAF on June 11, 1988, Air Marshal Walia brings a vast reservoir of experience to his new role. As a distinguished alumnus of the National Defence Academy (NDA), he has accrued an impressive 3,200 flying hours across various fighter aircraft, including the MiG-21, MiG-23 BN, MiG-27, Jaguar, and Su-30 MKI.
Air Marshal Walia’s career is marked by exceptional leadership and tactical acumen. He has commanded a front-line fighter squadron, the Tactical Air Combat Development Establishment (TACDE), and a key IAF base in the Central Sector, showcasing his expertise in operational and tactical development.
Beyond his battlefield accomplishments, Air Marshal Walia’s staff experience spans critical roles at both Command and Air Headquarters. His diplomatic skills were notably advanced during his tenure as the Defence Attaché to Japan, where he adeptly handled complex international military relations.
Before his current role, Air Marshal Walia served as the Air Defence Commander (AD Cdr) at the Western Air Command (WAC), significantly enhancing air defense capabilities. His exemplary service has been recognized with the Vayu Sena Medal in 2008 and the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in 2018, underscoring his dedication and excellence in the IAF.
