Meghalaya and Assam to Meet on Border Dispute

Northeast Desk, 27th July: Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong announced that a meeting between Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is scheduled to take place soon. The meeting will focus on the interstate border dispute and will occur before the resumption of the second phase of the border talks. The objective is to develop a clear plan of action for the ongoing negotiations.

In related news, Tynsong condemned the Hynniewtrep National Youth Federation (HNYF) for recently halting Assam-registered vehicles in Umtyngar, preventing them from traveling to Sohra and Dawki. He criticized the pressure group for taking unilateral action and emphasized the need for addressing grievances through official channels rather than through such disruptions.
