Meghalaya: Assam Rifles Inspector General’s Conference Focuses on Border Integrity, Combat Potential, and Well-being
Northeast Desk, 3rd November: The Assam Rifles Inspector General’s Conference took place at the Headquarters Directorate General Assam Rifles in Laitkor, Shillong, on November 3. The Director General of the Assam Rifles, Lieutenant General PC Nair, presided over the conference, which was attended by staff officers from Headquarters DGAR and Formations as well as formation commanders and battalion commanders.
During the conference, the DG emphasized the paramount importance of maintaining the integrity of the Indo-Myanmar border. He commended the troops for their exemplary and unbiased conduct in the present situation in Manipur, which has helped keep the situation under control. He also praised the Assam Rifles battalions deployed in other North Eastern states and the Kashmir valley for their exceptional performance.
The DG stressed the need for the Force to focus on its combat potential in conventional operations through regular exercises and rehearsals. He also commended the Formation Commanders for their efforts in environmental conservation by planting a high number of saplings. Additionally, he mentioned the importance of providing healthy rations to the Force and ensuring the well-being of veterans, with several Ex-Servicemen (ESM) rallies held and grievances addressed.
The conference is held twice a year and aims to enhance the operational and administrative efficiency of the Assam Rifles in fulfilling its tasks in the North East region.
