Meghalaya assembly Elections 2023: NPP to go solo, says Conrad Sangma

Guwahati: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said on Sunday that the National People’s Party  (NPP) would stand alone in the assembly elections of 2023.

Speaking to ANI, Conrad Sangma said, “We will run alone in the forthcoming state election. Additionally, we had run unopposed in prior elections. But we will continue to support NDA. As of right moment, we have chosen our party candidates for 58 of Meghalaya’s 60 assembly seats.”

The chief minister stated that despite the TMC’s support in Meghalaya, the party will not be able to perform well in the next state assembly elections.

“TMC grew to be the largest opposition party in Meghalaya after the Congress MLAs joined TMC. The opposition was not cohesive, and today TMC is now splitting into groups. The TMC won’t likely perform well in the future elections, in my opinion” Conrad Sangma said.
