Meghalaya Assembly Elections: NPP emerges as the top performer with 16 seats won, 9 seats leading

Guwahati: The National People’s Party (NPP), which gained 16 seats and currently holds a nine-seat advantage, has emerged as the top performer in the Meghalayan assembly elections, the results of which will be released soon.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won zero seats and trails in three, while the Indian National Congress (INC) has won four seats and holds a majority in one.

The NPP’s outstanding performance has been credited to both its effective campaign and popular backing. The party’s leader, Conrad K Sangma, thanked the electorate and pledged to work for the state’s advancement.

On the other hand, the INC has performed poorly, winning only 4 seats and taking the lead in just one.

The party declared that they would investigate the factors that led to their defeat in the meantime because the results were not what they had anticipated.

It is also unexpected that the BJP performed so badly, considering the group had great aspirations of taking a number of seats.

The NPP emerged as the victor in Meghalaya’s assembly elections, which were generally hotly contested.

The official results are anticipated to be made public later today, and the formation of the government will now take centre stage.
