Meghalaya Bags National Energy Conservation Award; IIM Shillong Hosts Sustainability Conference
Shillong: Meghalaya has been awarded second place in the Group-D category of the National Energy Conservation Award for the second consecutive year.
The award, presented by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) under the Ministry of Power, recognizes Meghalaya’s exemplary efforts in promoting energy efficiency, reducing energy consumption, and fostering sustainability.
The accolade underscores Meghalaya’s commitment to environmental sustainability through innovative energy-saving initiatives. By consistently implementing impactful measures, the state has positioned itself as a leader in energy conservation, contributing significantly to environmental protection and resource optimization.
In a parallel stride toward sustainability, the 11th edition of IIM Shillong’s Sustainability Conference (SUSCON XI) concluded as a global forum for addressing the critical challenges of climate change. The three-day event attracted distinguished academics, practitioners, and industry leaders, fostering dialogue on actionable solutions to pressing environmental issues.
The conference opened with remarks by Dr. Kailash Choudhary, Conference Chair, and Prof. Basav Roychoudhury, Dean of Research at IIM Shillong, emphasizing the need for collective action. Through discussions and collaborations, the event reinforced the importance of aligning business practices with climate-conscious strategies.
