Meghalaya: BSF’s Umpling Campus Hosts High-Octane Inter-Command Women’s Sports Competition
Northeast Desk, 27th August: The Border Security Force (BSF) Campus in Umpling is alive with energy as 120 female athletes from across the country compete in a high-stakes multi-sport tournament. The Inter-Command Women’s Competition, which began on August 27, features intense contests in wrestling, boxing, judo, arm wrestling, weightlifting, and powerlifting.
With 70 competitors representing the Eastern Command and 50 from the Western Command, the two-day event promises to be a fierce battle for supremacy.
The opening ceremony, led by Inspector General Harbax Singh Dhillon, was a display of patriotism and unity, featuring a march past, an oath-taking ceremony, and cultural performances that highlighted the spirit of the event.
IG Dhillon encouraged the athletes to demonstrate their skills while upholding the highest standards of sportsmanship. He underscored the importance of physical fitness in the BSF’s operations, stating, “These sports are not just competitions, but vital training for our daily duties.”
He also praised the BSF for its commitment to promoting various sports, recognizing their integral role in maintaining the physical and mental readiness of the force. The event not only showcases the athletic talents of BSF personnel but also reinforces the importance of fitness in their service to the nation.
