Meghalaya Cabinet Approves State Anthem Amendment and New Development Initiatives
Shillong: The Meghalaya Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, has announced a significant decision to amend the state anthem.
The revised anthem will include additional lines in the Pnar language, a move that comes after suggestions from the Jaintia Hills district. The new anthem is set to be unveiled at the upcoming Meghalaya Games in Jowai.
In another important development, the Cabinet approved the Meghalaya School Service Rules 2025. This move aims to provide better promotion opportunities for Government LP Schools teachers. Previously, service rules limited the scope for promotions, resulting in teachers and assistant teachers remaining in the same post for extended periods.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved the implementation of the Meghalaya Town & Country Planning Scheme. This initiative seeks to bring together all stakeholders to plan, approve, and discuss town and countryside planning. This move is expected to promote more organized and sustainable development in the region.
