Meghalaya Cabinet Approves Tourism Policies, Organic Farming

Guwahati: The Meghalaya Cabinet approved the State Organic and Farming Policy, the Meghalaya Tourism Policy, and the State’s Drug Reduction Elimination and Action Mission (DREAM) on Wednesday.

Chief Minister Conrad Sangma announced on Wednesday that the Meghalaya State Organic and Farming Policy 2023 and the Meghalaya Tourism Policy 2023 have been approved by the state’s cabinet.

The official Twitter handle of the chief minister tweeted on Wednesday, “The Cabinet has approved the Meghalaya State Organic & Farming Policy 2023 to further our efforts towards Organic Farming in Meghalaya. The Policy will streamline our plan of action and will look into aspects of organic certification of produce.”

CM Sangma Conrad also tweeted, “In our endeavour towards Drugs Free Meghalaya, Cabinet today (Wednesday) gave its approval to the Drug Reduction Elimination & Action Mission (DREAM).”

In regards to DREAM, he stated that the goal was to make sure all facets of substance misuse were addressed in a planned and mission-oriented manner.

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma stated that the tourism policy was last updated in 2011 and that since then, a lot has changed in the industry. As a result, a detailed strategy that takes into account the new circumstances is required.

As many things have occurred, but not consistently, he said that the tourism policy will provide appropriate structures and shape for the process of its expansion.
