Meghalaya: Central Government Releases Funds, Initiates Disbursement of Post-Matric Scholarships in state
Northeast Desk, 12th January: The Central Government has released funds, marking the commencement of the long-awaited disbursement of post-matric scholarships to students in Meghalaya. This move is a significant step toward realizing the educational aspirations of students and ensuring that financial constraints do not impede their pursuit of higher education.
Meghalaya’s government is actively processing the centrally sponsored Post Matric Scholarship, designed to support students who have completed class 12th education and are pursuing higher studies but face financial barriers within the state.
For the academic year 2023-24, eligible students will benefit from various incentives provided by the scholarship. The scholarship, a means-based initiative, caters to Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Scheduled Caste (SC) students, aiming to offer financial assistance for their higher education.
The eligibility criteria include being a domicile of Meghalaya with an annual family income not exceeding Rs 2,50,000 from all sources. Students can apply through the official National Scholarship Portal, following a detailed process that includes registration, providing personal and bank details, and submitting required documents.
This initiative reflects the Meghalaya government’s commitment to enhancing educational opportunities for underprivileged students and fostering a more inclusive society where financial constraints do not hinder academic aspirations.
