Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma Engages with UNDP’s Kanni Wignaraja on Key Development Initiatives
Northeast Desk, 7th October: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma held a productive meeting with Kanni Wignaraja, Assistant Secretary-General and Regional Director of the UNDP’s Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific, during Wignaraja’s visit to the state. The discussions focused on a range of significant issues and potential collaborations aimed at advancing sustainable development in Meghalaya.
The meeting explored various collaborative areas, including disaster management, enhancing entrepreneurship, and bolstering collective efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). These initiatives are part of the state government’s broader strategy to foster economic growth and resilience in the face of challenges.
Earlier, on October 6, Chief Minister Sangma met with Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar in New Delhi, where he updated him on pressing issues concerning Meghalaya. During this meeting, Sangma extended an invitation to Dhankhar to visit Meghalaya, highlighting the state’s unique culture and opportunities for development.
As Meghalaya continues to seek partnerships and support from national and international bodies, the dialogue with UNDP signals a commitment to enhancing the state’s development landscape and addressing key socio-economic challenges.
