Meghalaya CM Congratulates National Games Medalists, Announces Govt Job for Bronze Winner

Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma personally congratulated the state’s athletes who secured five medals at the 38th National Games 2025 in Uttarakhand, calling their victory a moment of immense pride for Meghalaya.

In a heartfelt video call with Vikash, Elizabeth, Indra, Kiran, Anandhi, and Pynshngaiñ, the Chief Minister celebrated their achievements and expressed his excitement for their return.

“How are you all feeling today?” CM Sangma asked as he initiated the conversation, commending their spectacular performance. Sharing the moment on his official X handle, he wrote, “Exciting things ahead for these young stars. Can’t wait to welcome them home!” He reiterated that the entire state stands proud of their accomplishments and looks forward to honoring them in Shillong.

Beyond congratulating the athletes, the Chief Minister also extended his gratitude to Coach Ian Vincent and Team Manager Sheila Vincent for their dedicated efforts in leading the team to success. He acknowledged their role in leveraging government support to shape Meghalaya’s rising sports talent.

In a major announcement, CM Sangma declared that the state government would offer a government job to Pynshngaiñ Kurbah, who secured a bronze medal in canoe slalom. “As a token of appreciation, the Government will offer you a Government job under our Sports Policy,” he stated on Instagram, emphasizing that Kurbah’s victory has inspired countless young athletes to dream big.

The recognition of Meghalaya’s athletes reflects the government’s commitment to sports development, ensuring continued encouragement and support for emerging talent in the state.
