Meghalaya CM Conrad K. Sangma Inaugurates 1st Albera Choir Competition and Food Fest in Sawmer

Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma inaugurated the 1st Albera Choir Competition and Food Fest at Don Bosco Sunny Side in Sawmer, East Khasi Hills district, on February 1.

The event, held as part of the Silver Jubilee Celebration of Seng Rangbah Katholik Sawmer, attracted choir groups from various parishes, highlighting the region’s rich musical heritage and promoting local culture.

In his speech, CM Sangma lauded the performances of the choir groups, emphasizing the importance of nurturing young talent through such cultural events.

He noted that the competition not only provided an opportunity for artistic expression but also played a key role in fostering community spirit and preserving traditions.

The Chief Minister also took the time to engage with members of the Dorbar Shnong, representatives from local women’s organizations, and the Seng Semla of Sawmer.

In their interaction, they discussed issues impacting the locality and surrounding areas, with a focus on community development and ensuring that the concerns of the grassroots were addressed.

CM Sangma expressed his gratitude to Don Bosco Sunny Side, Sawmer, for organizing the event and for providing a platform that allowed local youth to showcase their musical skills.

He further underscored the significance of community-driven initiatives in strengthening the social fabric and empowering the younger generation.
