Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma Announces Wife Mehtab Chandee as NPP Candidate for Gambegre Bypolls

Northeast Desk, 12th August: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has officially announced that his wife, Mehtab Chandee, will contest in the upcoming Gambegre bypolls. The announcement was made during a public meeting held in Gambegre, where the Chief Minister emphasized that the decision was driven by overwhelming public demand.

During his address, CM Sangma assured the constituents that electing his wife would establish a direct link between the people of Gambegre and his administration. He also highlighted the pressing need for developmental work in the constituency and pledged that the National People’s Party (NPP) would work dedicatedly to address these needs.

The Gambegre seat has garnered significant attention, with the Congress party also keen on retaining its influence in the region. Earlier this month, Meghalaya Congress President Vincent H Pala stated that leaders like Saleng A Sangma and Deborah C Marak are preparing to ensure a strong showing in the bypolls. While the Congress has yet to announce its final candidate, all major parties are actively campaigning as the election draws closer.
