Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma Casts His Vote
Guwahati: Chief Minister of Meghalaya Conrad Sangma cast his ballot on February 27 at a polling station in South Tura, one of the state’s 60 Legislative Assembly districts.
Prior to casting his ballot, Sangma spoke with the media and expressed his confidence in the National People’s Party’s (NPP) performanc in the Assembly elections.
3,419 polling locations in 59 Assembly seats in the state are currently open for voting which will continue till 4 PM.
Out of Meghalaya’s 60 Assembly districts, 36 are in the Khasi Jaintia Hills region and 24 are in the Garo Hills region.
It is important to note that voting in the Sohiong Assembly constituency was delayed after HDR Lyngdoh, a former state home minister and candidate for the seat on behalf of the United Democratic Party (UDP), passed away.
There are more than 21 lakh voters, 10.99 lakh of whom are women and 10.68 lakh of them are men.
