Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma Unveils Integrated Command and Control Center in New Shillong Township
Shillong: In a groundbreaking step toward urban technological advancement, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma inaugurated the Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC) in Umsawli, New Shillong Township, on November 20.
This state-of-the-art facility is set to transform urban governance through advanced digital integration.
The ICCC will function as a centralised hub for city operations, incorporating real-time data analysis, disaster management, and city surveillance across 96 strategic locations. Equipped with cutting-edge video analytics and intelligent traffic management systems, the centre aims to enhance efficiency in key sectors, including traffic flow, waste management, and water distribution.
A highlight of the facility is its 20 workstations and a 30-person operational capacity, enabling seamless inter-departmental collaboration. By leveraging IT capabilities, the ICCC is expected to improve decision-making, synchronise emergency response efforts, and optimise urban operations for better citizen services.
Officials emphasized the centre’s role in addressing urban challenges while fostering strategic inter-departmental coordination. Future plans include expanding ICCC’s reach to other cities like Tura and Jowai, with ambitions to position Meghalaya as a regional data centre hub.
This initiative signifies a major step in modernising urban infrastructure and highlights the state government’s commitment to leveraging technology for sustainable development and improved citizen welfare.
