Meghalaya CM Denies Making Communal Remarks Against TMC

Guwahati: The opposition leader of Meghalaya Dr. Mukul Sangma said that Chief Minister Conrad Sangma used racial slurs towards the TMC.

After submitting his nomination for the upcoming South Tura assembly elections, Sangma said during a news conference that he was simply expressing the fact that the TMC is a political party with its headquarters in West Bengal.

He said, “There is nothing wrong with that.”

The chief executive officer noted that he was adhering to the same standard established by Mamata Banerjee during the most recent elections in West Bengal where she referred to the BJP and other national parties as foreign parties.

He insisted that his remark was not racially motivated.

When questioned about the NPP’s election campaign, Sangma stated that the emphasis would be on the development work done over the previous five years and the necessity of consistency in order to accomplish future objectives.
