Meghalaya CM Lauds Book on Khasi Religion, Promotes Indigenous Knowledge

Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad K. Sangma, today commended the release of “A Sociological Study of The Khasi Religion” by Dr. Sharalyne Khyriemmujat.

The book delves into the intricacies of the traditional Khasi belief system and underscores the pivotal role of the Seng Khasi in safeguarding this indigenous faith.

In his congratulatory message, the CM expressed his admiration for the author’s scholarly work. He also reaffirmed his government’s unwavering support for researchers and scholars dedicated to documenting Meghalaya’s rich cultural heritage.

This endorsement comes on the heels of another significant development in the state. On December 3, CM Sangma unveiled “Um Rupa Premium Mineral Water,” a locally produced bottled water brand from West Khasi Hills District. By opting for glass bottle packaging, the brand prioritizes environmental sustainability, aligning with the state’s commitment to eco-friendly practices.

The launch of this indigenous product showcases the growing entrepreneurial spirit in Meghalaya and the state government’s efforts to promote local businesses.
