Meghalaya CM Launches ‘Paint My City’ Campaign to Beautify Tura
Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma virtually launched the “Paint My City” campaign for Tura in West Garo Hills district on December 5, aiming to transform the town into one of the cleanest and most picturesque in the country.
The launch event was attended by Speaker and North Tura MLA Thomas A Sangma, West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Jagdish Chelani, Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) Chief Executive Member Albinus Marak, and other officials.
Speaking at the launch, the chief minister explained that the campaign seeks to enhance Tura’s aesthetic appeal by painting the boundary walls and buildings of government offices and educational institutions. He highlighted the campaign’s broader goal of fostering community pride and creating an example for the state and the nation to follow.
Sangma called for active participation from the community to ensure the initiative’s success. He also announced that the campaign would extend to Jowai and Shillong, emphasizing its state-wide vision for beautification and cleanliness.
The initiative will cover both state and central government offices, as well as educational institutions, signaling a collaborative effort to elevate Meghalaya’s urban landscapes and inspire sustainable community involvement.
