Meghalaya Congress Concludes Nominations for State and District Youth Leadership Elections
Meghalaya: In a significant stride toward fostering youth leadership, the Meghalaya Congress has wrapped up the nomination process for state-level positions, including the roles of state president, general secretary, and other office bearers.
The process also extended to nominations for district-level office bearers, underscoring the party’s commitment to grassroots democratic engagement.
The Indian Youth Congress (IYC) hailed the initiative as a landmark moment, describing it as a “transparent and fair election process” that celebrates the vibrancy of youth participation in politics. A statement from the IYC emphasized the party’s dedication to the largest democratic exercise for young leaders across the state.
Over 500 aspiring candidates filed nominations for various roles through the Indian Youth Congress’s online platform, “With IYC,” accessible via Android and iOS. The digital approach streamlined the process, offering an inclusive and accessible method for participation. The nomination phase officially concluded on November 25.
Acknowledging the overwhelming response, the Congress expressed gratitude to the state’s youth for their enthusiastic involvement. The party also encouraged young voters to cast their ballots for state and district presidents through the same online platform, with voting open until December 16, 2024.
Describing the surge in participation as a “historic milestone,” the Congress noted that the large number of nominations for key positions signifies a renewed chapter of democratic engagement among Meghalaya’s youth.
