Meghalaya: Conrad K Sangma Re-elected as NPP National President
Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has been re-elected as the National People’s Party (NPP) national president, marking another three-year term in this position.
This development came about during an organisational election held in Delhi, where Former Cabinet Minister Paknga Bage was elected as the General Secretary, and Mehtab Agitok Sangma took on the role of National Treasurer.
Sangma expressed his gratitude to the NPP family for reaffirming their trust in his leadership. On his official X handle, he wrote, “Thank the NPP family for reaffirming their trust in my leadership by re-electing me as National President of the National People’s Party today. Together, we will continue to take NPP to its national and regional prominence along with the hopes and aspirations of our people”.
The newly re-elected NPP President announced that the members of the National Committee for 2025-28 would be revealed shortly. In an interview with ANI, Sangma confirmed that he would continue in the role for the next three years, highlighting that the Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) is held annually as per the NPP constitution.
Sangma emphasized the significance of this AGM, stating that it marked the end of his previous term and the beginning of his new three-year term as NPP President. He thanked the party members, delegates, and people for re-electing him and giving him the opportunity to serve them.
