Meghalaya: Dumper Truck Accident in West Garo Hills Leaves Motorcyclist Severely Injured

Northeast Desk, 29th April: A dumper truck accident in West Garo Hills on Sunday resulted in severe injuries to a motorcyclist’s leg near MBoSE at Upper Matchikolgre junction in Tura. The truck with registration number ML 08K 0925 ran over the motorcyclist, identified as Rakseng M Sangma, 37, from Balachanda, Rajabala, dragging the bike to Bokmagre.

The victim was rushed to Tura Civil Hospital for treatment. Reports indicate that the truck driver, identified as Kazimudin from Singimari, dragged the victim’s bike for 2 kilometres to Bokmagre before fleeing the scene, leaving the victim in critical condition.

This incident follows another tragic accident where a 14-year-old girl lost half her lower limb to a dumper truck in Ballonggre a week ago.

In response, groups from Garo Hills have urged the district administration to regulate heavy truck entry times and have demanded medical expense coverage and compensation for victims.
